Sailboat Family

Expand. Explore. Enjoy.

Have you ever wanted to travel the world? Do you feel the drive to expand your horizons and explore the planet? We did, so we walked away from the corporate world, sold our home, sold our cars, and nearly every other normal life thing to buy a boat and mosey around the world as a family. It didn't quite work out, but it was an amazing experience none the less.

What started this journey?

In October of 2006, when our first child turned 1, we were talking about retirement and how we would just love to travel around the world full time, adventuring. With our new baby, traveling to exotic new places became more difficult. We joked that we should just dump the hamster race and take off with our baby anyway and see the world. A year later, the joke became a quest and in September of 2007 we committed ourselves to the idea of uprooting our lives and traveling around the world full time.

Voyage in brief

We pushed off March 8th, 2011, and after 50 days we decided it best to dock the boat. There were many lessons for us about traveling as a family unit. Our first approach and style didn't work out. No worries, not every adventure works on the first try. We are expanding, exploring, and enjoying in other ways as we figure out how to proceed to see the world.
